Multiplication Facts & Concepts Lesson Workbook
Multiplication Concepts | Multiply by Skip Counting
102 Step-by-Step Math Lessons | Special Education Math Intervention | Third Grade Math Level
This Multiplication Facts & Concepts lesson workbook includes an example IEP goal, step-by-step math lessons, word problems, reviews and assessments. This evidence-based math intervention is tied to third grade standards and is great for special education math goals and tier 2 small group math interventions (RTI).
These sequential lessons are easy to teach, with enough material for 24 weeks of instruction!
102 Step-by-Step Multiplication Lessons:
Part 1 of this workbook introduces the concepts of multiplication and visualizing equal groups. It includes the use of repeated addition, arrays, grid area, skip counting, the commutative property, and the difference between addition and multiplication.
Part 2 addresses using skip counting to solve multiplication problems. It includes the vocabulary often used in word problems to signal multiplication. Lessons are sequenced to progress from the easiest patterns (counting by 2’s and 5’s) to the most difficult, so that by the time they get to 7’s and 8’s they only have a few new facts to learn. Related facts are introduced together.

Teacher Feedback:
❤️ “I love the approach and routine to your math units and the multiplication was no exception! Students with Intellectual Disability were multiplying with pride and parents were very tickled! Great evidenced-based structure.” -Melissa G.
❤️ "Clear, easy to use and supports the concepts my students need to learn rather than just memorization!! Equal groups, arrays, area. Lots of visual supports!! -Denise G.
❤️ "Hands down the BEST multiplication resource! I used it with my self-contained students and they are doing SO well with it!! Thank you for creating this comprehensive resource!! -Renslow A.
❤️ "My students absolutely love this! They progress through the curriculum without being overwhelmed and all pages contain the perfect amount of white space for them!" -Cheryl S.
❤️ "My SPED director was very impressed when I showed her I was using this. She asked if I could locate the same comprehensive material for other standards. Very happy." -Josephine J.
❤️ "I use this as an intervention with my students. The lessons are easy for the parents to understand and assist their child." -Stacy N.
❤️ “Great visual supports for introducing multiplication.”
❤️ "I LOVE these interventions. I find it to be very engaging and simple to teach. My students have been very successful using these interventions and enjoy completing them." -Megan W.
❤️ "EXACTLY what my mixed group of 4-6th graders needed. We started fresh with two 4th graders, one 5th grader with learning differences and a 6th grader. This helped them enormously - far beyond memorizing facts." -Angela L.
❤️ "This has been one of the best purchases I've ever made on TpT (and I have purchased A LOT ;)! It is a wonderful resource to deepen my students understanding of multiplication. Fits very nicely into an I Do-We Do-You Do format. Excellent and highly recommend!" -Loving Differentiation
❤️ "Worth it to hear one of my 4th graders say 'Oh! THAT'S what multiplication is!'" -Kimberly D.
❤️ "I love the confidence this gives my students!" -Kate S.
❤️ “This has been a lifesaver for my students! Thank you!”
Lessons Are Tied to These Standards:
Second Grade CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.C.4
Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
Third Grade CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.A.1
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
Third Grade CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.A3
Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities
Third Grade CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.B.5
Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. Examples:
If 6 × 4 = 24 is known, then 4 × 6 = 24 is also known. (Commutative property of multiplication.)
Third Grade CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.C.7
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
